My child has chipped or loosened a tooth. What should I do?
You should first stop any bleeding by putting pressure on the area. A knocked out tooth should be found and seen by a dentist ASAP. A baby tooth cannot be re-implanted but a permanent tooth should be either placed back into the socket or placed in milk and brought to a dentist.
A chipped tooth, unless it is very large with a reddish colour or bleeding from the center of the tooth, can be seen that day or the next. Avoid hard, hot or cold food and drinks. The larger chip should be seen ASAP.
